Creating your first list
Before you could send your first newsletter with SalesAutopilot, the very first step is to create at least one list and then either (a) create the corresponding signup form and embed it in your webpage, or (b) import your existing leads into your SalesAutopilot list.
As long as you are just familiarizing yourself with SalesAutopilot, we recommend that you keep things simple. This means that your first list should be some kind of a mailing list, with the least number of fields needed for subscription. This will make it easier for you to manage the list, and later on – if you'd like – you could expand it by adding more fields.
We recommend that you create your first list with only a couple of fields. These could be the first name and last name (or full name) fields. These fields, along with the subscriber's email address field, don't have to be added to your list since they are there by default.
Before you move on to creating your first list, we recommend that you watch these videos on Creating a mailing list.
Importing your existing leads
If you have been collecting subscribers before you started using SalesAutopilot, then it's definitely worth importing them into your SalesAutopilot list, so that you could send your newsletters to them. For this you first have to convert your list of leads into an Excel or similar spreadsheet file (e.g. Google Sheets) and save it in the so called CSV (comma-separated values) format. To find out more about importing files into SalesAutopilot, read the following tutorial: Import data into SalesAutopilot.
If you are importing subscribers from multiple sources, you don't have to worry about occasional overlapping. SalesAutopilot automatically filters out multiple occurrences of the same email address, and adds them to the list only once. However, if you want to be able to import the same email address more than once, all you have to do is select the "Contact us" type of list option on the second page of the create list wizard of the list you are importing your leads into.
If the leads you are importing have some details that would need to be saved in fields that you don't have on your SalesAutopilot list, then you will be able to expand your list in the future and import those details. Watch this video to find out how: Importing new details to update the information of subscribers.
